The link with hemorrhoids
One of the most common risks is the occurrence of haemorrhoids. These painful swellings are often caused by excessive pressure on the veins around the anus. This pressure is amplified by a prolonged sitting position and the tendency to “force”, a practice to be avoided.

Tracting to grow while the gut is not ready can make constipation worse. This disrupts the body’s natural signals, making the stools even more difficult to evacuate and creating a vicious circle.
How much time to spend in the toilet?

According to experts, the ideal time to sit on the toilet should not exceed 10 minutes. Beyond this period, the risks of complications increase. If you cannot get to the stool quickly, it is advisable to get up, walk a little and try again later.
Dr Mikael Sandstrom, nicknamed “The Sun Doctor”, explains that forcing unnecessarily disrupts the natural evacuation reflex and can turn a simple process into a real headache.
