Ingredients:

For the Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes

8 oz cream cheese, cold and cut into cubes

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For the Filling:

1/2 cup fruit preserves or jam (apricot, raspberry, or fig work beautifully)

1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon water

Extra sugar for sprinkling (optional)
