In a world where acts of kindness often go unnoticed, one plumber has captured hearts worldwide with his mission to help the elderly and vulnerable. James Anderson, a compassionate plumber from Liverpool, has dedicated his career to providing free plumbing services to those in need. His inspiring work has gained viral attention, proving that small acts of generosity can make a significant impact.
A Plumber with a Purpose
James Anderson’s mission started when he realized that many elderly people struggle with home repairs but hesitate to ask for help. Whether due to financial struggles or a fear of being a burden, many seniors go without necessary plumbing fixes. Witnessing this, James decided to offer “free plumbing for life” to those in need, ensuring no vulnerable person has to suffer from a lack of essential home services.
“We need to be a human race, to look out for each other,” Anderson said when asked about his motivation.
Despite the widespread praise for his actions, James remains humble, describing his work as a “community effort.”
Making a Difference, One Repair at a Time
James operates his charity plumbing service through Depher (Disabled and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response). Through this initiative, he provides free heating and plumbing services to the elderly, disabled, and those in financial hardship.
His services cover everything from fixing broken boilers in the dead of winter to repairing leaks and burst pipes—all at no cost to the homeowner.
When asked about what keeps him going, James responded:
“It makes me feel human, humble, and a little giddy inside… I want to expand this service across the country. I will never give up the fight.”
Expanding the Mission Nationwide
James’s vision doesn’t stop at Burnley, where he currently operates. He dreams of expanding Depher nationwide so that elderly and vulnerable people in every town and city can access free plumbing and heating services.
Encouragingly, his story has inspired other plumbers to join the movement. Many have reached out, offering their services for free or at heavily discounted rates to those in need.
“I’ve got other plumbers offering help. My hope is to get Depher national, in every city and town,” James said.
His efforts are proving that one person’s kindness can ignite a movement, inspiring others to step up and make a difference.
The Impact of His Work
One of the many people inspired by James’s work is Bruce Drury, a 63-year-old semi-retired plumber. He shared that he has also provided free or discounted plumbing work for those in need, often receiving heartfelt appreciation from clients who otherwise couldn’t afford repairs.
