Have you ever caught a small army of ants swarming toward your kitchen? Or seen a cockroach scurry away as soon as you turn on the light? These small intrusions can quickly wreak havoc on our domestic peace. But what if we told you that an unexpected ally, one you use every day, could help you regain your serenity? Here’s a hint: it’s in your bathroom…

Why Cockroaches and Ants Invite Themselves Into Your Home

Despite your best efforts to keep your  home clean , these pests always find a way to sneak in. The reason? They’re attracted to warm, dark, and above all… crumb-rich areas! Kitchens, pantry areas, under sinks ,  and  lower walls  are their favorite hunting grounds.

And while these visitors aren’t inherently dangerous, they can quickly become invasive. Fortunately, there’s no need to bring out the big guns to repel them. A little ingenuity and an everyday ingredient are all you need!

The Toothpaste Trick: The Secret Weapon Against Invaders

Yes, you read that right: toothpaste can become your best ally against insects. Why? Because some of its ingredients, like mint or  sodium bicarbonate  (found in some formulas), are feared by small creatures.

To keep cockroaches away

Apply a small dab of toothpaste to strategic corners: behind appliances, under the sink, around the  bottom of walls . The minty scent acts as a natural repellent, deterring these nocturnal visitors from settling there.

To block the ants’ path

Draw a thin line of toothpaste along windowsills, doorways, and other potential entry points. The menthol confuses their sense of smell and scrambles their communication. As a result, they turn away!
