Three effective methods against cochineal insects
There are many effective methods to eliminate cochineal insects from our plants, both ornamental ones and those on the balcony or in the vegetable garden. Below we list 3 completely natural methods.
Treatments against mealybugs. One of the most effective is to mix neem oil with potassium soap. This treatment is very effective, as the potassium soap helps to keep the neem in the water for longer, and neem is a powerful insecticide. The treatment can be done both by watering and by using a spray bottle.
Prepare a DIY insecticide against cochineal insects. For most types of cochineal insects, you can use a DIY insecticide. Ingredients: 5 cloves of garlic, 250 ml of alcohol, 250 ml of water, a little biodegradable liquid soap, a spray bottle. Grind and crush the garlic well and mix it with the other ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray the natural insecticide on both the plant.
Diatomaceous earth against cochineal insects. Sprinkle this product, which consists of a white powder extracted from marine algae fossils, directly onto the soil. It is important not to confuse it with diatomaceous earth used for household cleaning, which is toxic to plants and pets.
