Vinegar is more than a kitchen staple—it’s a powerful, natural way to improve your laundry. If your whites look dull or your towels feel rough, vinegar can help make them brighter and softer.
When added to the rinse cycle, vinegar breaks down detergent residue that stiffens fabrics. Pour half to one cup of white distilled vinegar into your washing machine’s fabric softener compartment. This leaves clothes soft and fresh without artificial fragrances.
The vinegar smell fades completely once clothes dry. Vinegar’s acidity also removes soap scum and minerals that cause whites to yellow or gray. Adding a cup during rinse brightens towels, sheets, and t-shirts. For stubborn stains, a paste of vinegar and baking soda applied before washing can boost stain removal.
