Tamayo Perry was a lifeguard and professional surfer in Pipeline. The Pipeline surf spot in Hawaii is considered one of the best waves in the world. At the time of his death, he was teaching surfing. “Tamayo Perry was a lifeguard loved by all, well-known on the North Shore, and a professional surfer known around the world,” said interim Chief of Marine Safety Kurt Lager in a statement. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi also paid tribute to the actor: “Tamayo was a legendary waterman and he was very respected,” he said, adding that his death was “a tragic loss.”
