How to reduce humidity in the bathroom

Open windows and doors

It is essential that during the day and even more so after each shower, the doors and windows of the bathroom must remain open to receive adequate ventilation.

In this way, we allow the heat of the steam to dissipate and the fresh air that comes from the street to be renewed, especially if we leave the door of the house open as well.

An exhaust fan

In the event that the bathroom does not have a window or is too small, the solution to the problem would be the installation of an exhaust fan. As we know, it fulfills the function of exchanging the enclosed air of the environment for the air of the outside, reduces humidity and also the bad smell it generates.

Remove wet towels and rugs

A recommendation when we finish showering is to immediately remove the wet towels from the bathroom so that they can be ventilated outside. We do the same with the carpet we use outside the shower and the one we step on inside the shower, we also take it out to ventilate.

Air Dehumidifier

As we well know, the function of an air dehumidifier is to eliminate excess humidity in the environment. If we have it installed in our bathroom, after each daily shower, we must run it for a few minutes to reduce humidity.

Solutions at the time of construction or renovations

If it is our case to build or renovate the bathroom, we must make sure to avoid infiltrations, humidity and mold. To achieve this, a waterproofing screen can be used between the layers of mortar, as well as a waterproofing mortar and even paint.

Another measure is to place the floor throughout the bathroom and up to the ceiling line, preferably.

Councils:

You have to check the tiles, we know that moisture accumulates in the tiles and especially in those that are inside the shower or bathtub. Even in the joints it is embedded, not only is it unhygienic but also water leaks and humidity occur.

Clean and dry the bathroom thoroughly, generally in the shower or bathtub we have a curtain, so it must be well ventilated and prevent moisture from accumulating there. Keep in mind that we are not aware of this, it can become a source of humidity and even mold.

Finally, a thorough cleaning of the bathroom once a week would go a long way in keeping it in perfect condition. And when we talk about cleaning we mean cleaning and drying all the corners, in fact it includes drying all the products that we have inside the shower well, such as the shampoo bottle, gels, creams, among others.

I hope you have understood how to decrease the humidity in your bathroom and achieve a clean and healthy environment for your family!
