Dutch airlines are generally a bit more flexible, but there are limits. Transavia and KLM actively monitor the size, weight, and quantity of hand luggage.
If you exceed the limit, you’ll often pay an extra fee on-site. This amount can be significantly higher at the airport than if you book in advance on the airline’s website or app.
Ryanair, for example, only allows one small personal item, such as a backpack or handbag. If you take a non-priority basket, expect to pay between $30 and $60 at the checkout.
Transavia charges a standard fee of €60 at the airport for excess baggage. KLM is more flexible, but even in this case, an overweight car can result in an additional fee of up to €75 within Europe, or even more for intercontinental flights.
