It was just another busy afternoon behind the counter at the fast-food restaurant where I worked. Orders came and went, customers rushed through, and I barely noticed faces anymore—until one woman left something behind that would quietly change my life. A luxury Louis Vuitton bag sat abandoned on the table, gleaming under the fluorescent lights, untouched and out of place in a room filled with paper cups and plastic trays.

At first, I thought she’d realize her mistake and come rushing back. I waited about twenty minutes, keeping an eye on the bag from behind the counter. But she never returned. Eventually, I picked it up and placed it in the lost and found box, assuming someone would claim it soon.

Weeks passed, and no one did. A month later, my manager approached me with a shrug.
