I just found this on my bed. It scares me a little. What is it?
Picture this: You walk into your bedroom, ready to relax, when you find strange reddish-brown objects on your bed. You pick them up: small, capsule-shaped, shiny, and unfamiliar. Immediately, you’re overcome with worry. Are they insect eggs? Strange seeds? Medication? Or something more serious?
1. Softgels (dietary supplements or medications).
Their shape and color resemble common softgels, such as those for fish oil, vitamin E, or krill oil. They dissolve easily and can be dropped into the litter box without anyone noticing. If you or someone you know takes supplements, check to see if there are any compatible ones.
2. Seeds.
This is less likely, but some seeds, such as pomegranate or date seeds, can have a smooth, dark appearance. However, they generally have a more fibrous or opaque texture, as opposed to the shiny, gelatinous surface seen here.
3. Insect exuviae or droppings?
This is a common fear: thinking it has something to do with insects. Fortunately, these objects do not resemble insect eggs, larvae, or droppings. Most insect eggs are white or translucent and irregularly shaped. In this case, the objects are too uniform and shiny to be insect organic matter.
4. Candies
or edible beads. Some sweets or culinary decorations may look similar. However, the likelihood of them suddenly appearing in a bed without food is very low.
That’s exactly what happened in the photo above. Three mysterious reddish-brown objects were discovered in a person’s palm after being found on a bed. Let’s look at some possible explanations for what these objects could be.
